Risk assessment of pesticide residues in some samples of carrots (<em>Daucus carota</em>)

Background and Objective: The production of safe foods for consumption is an important issue worldwide. Pesticide application being used in recent agricultural practices to cultivate crops. Their use can have serious impacts on the health humans. This research work aims assess pesticide residues carrot samples from Kaduna Plateau States Northern Nigeria their risk human health. Materials Methods: Ten carrots were collected two groups analyzed residues. Extraction was performed analysis using gas chromatography hypherated a mass spectrophotometer. Risk assessment carried out by determining index. Results: Results showed that nineteen pesticides detected. Organochlorines highest with Trans-nonachlor appearing nine mean concentration 0.064±0.003 mg/kg State lowest 0.022±0.004 State. Organophosphates also detected high concentrations 0.034±0.003 0.000±0.0001 mg/kg. index
